Description
With its superior adhesive properties, SURTEC BOND COAT is specifically designed to act as a bond coat between difficult to coat substrates and protective floor finishes and waterborne sealers. BOND COAT may be used over concrete; luxury vinyl tile (LVT) or other vinyl flooring surfaces; interior sealed wood and engineered hardwood; and porous masonry surfaces, providing excellent adhesion to these surfaces where other sealers often fail. When used on concrete, BOND COAT offers excellent protection for topcoats from the damaging effects of high alkalinity in the concrete. BOND COAT may also be used as a bond coat for recoating wood gym flooring with waterborne polyurethane coatings, such as SURTEC COURT COAT 275.
BOND COAT is not recommended for use on dense, non-porous stone or masonry surfaces, such as slate or quarry tile, unless tested prior to application. Hard trowelled concrete may have to be lightly mechanically ground or acid-etched before application.
BOND COAT exceeds the Coefficient of Friction Safety Standard ASTM Designation D-2047. BOND COAT complies with all Federal, CA and OTC VOC regulations. VOC content = 44 g/l.
This product is for professional use only.
Directions
Floor Preparation: Surface must be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed; use SURTEC HC-150 (at 2 - 6 ozs. per gallon) for heavy duty cleaning or SC-210 (at 2 - 4 ozs. per gallon) if degreasing is required. Do not seal over old floor seal or dirt. If stripping of old sealers is necessary, consult SURTEC for product and procedure recommendations. If etching of concrete or removal of calcium salts is required, use properly diluted SURTEC SUPER ETCH or SUPER ETCH PLUS.
Application: Using standard floor finish application techniques, apply a thin to medium coat of BOND COAT with a mop, microfiber or lambswool applicator. Allow at least 1 hour of dry time before application of floor finishes or topcoats. For porous concrete and masonry surfaces a second application of BOND COAT may be required to thoroughly seal the surface. If it becomes necessary to strip BOND COAT, SURTEC ULTRA STRIP will efficiently break down and remove the coating.
